What Happens in the Emergency Department?
You will be interviewed by a nurse and asked to put on a gown. The nurse will check your vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, breathing, temperature). After the nurse's assessment, an emergency medicine physician or physician assistant will evaluate your condition. He or she may order additional tests such as labwork, cardiac studies and x-rays.
Because the Emergency Department is often busy, please limit the number of family members/visitors who accompany you while receiving care. Your family may be separated from you while you undergo tests or if you need urgent treatment. Our staff will keep your family informed of your condition.
