Northern Lancaster County Medical Transport Services
Today, there is a greater need for routine, non-emergency medical transportation—for patients moving from one healthcare facility to another, for people needing a ride to a physician office or therapy facility, or for patients coming home from the hospital.
The Northern Lancaster County Medical Transport Service Cooperative was established in 1996 to address the medical transportation needs of area residents. The members of the cooperative include Brickerville, Fivepointville, Leola, New Holland, Reamstown, and Manheim Township Ambulance Associations, as well as the Ephrata Community Hospital Advanced Life Support Units - Medic 4, and Medic 9.
The Co-op provides two invalid coach/handicap vans and a basic life support/advanced life support/mobile intensive care unit. In addition, the Co-op provides Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training and continuing education.
The Co-op is an example of community partnering that benefits so many, with better service to people living in Northern Lancaster County, and shared resources.
