Hospice & Community Care
Hospice & Community Care (founded as Hospice of Lancaster County) at Ephrata Community Hospital provides care, comfort and support for children and adults of all ages who physicians feel might have weeks or months versus years to live. The Hospice team provides specialized care for patients and their families that focuses on easing symptoms and relieving pain while providing emotional and spiritual support at a time when it is needed most. Care is provided at home whenever possible and focuses on comfort rather than cure.
Hospice staff and volunteers work with patients, families and their physicians in the community to insure access to a wide variety of hospice services. This team approach in conjunction with Ephrata Community Hospital enhances quality of care and communication among caregivers.
There may be times when remaining at home is no longer possible. That’s when the inpatient unit at Hospice of Lancaster County offers a safe and comforting alternative. It is structured in every way to serve as the “closest thing to home” for patients and caregivers in need of another dimension of hospice care. Inpatient care may also be provided at Ephrata Community Hospital.
